2009. :]

We're back!
Goodbye, December 2008!
Above is some fun stuff that happened this month, including less-than-flattering Snow Trip photos! Please note the distressed gingerbread men (if they're smiling, they're whole; if they're not, they're missing a limb or their head) and my Raynaud's Syndrome in action in the bottom. Also look at the funny kids in the center and appreciate my ever-handsome best friend-boyfriend, who is somehow able to look adorable under all circumstances.

And now - because all two of you who read this are waiting with bated breath to see this - is a list of my resolutions for the year. It's sort of more of a to-do list. Alas.

RESOLUTIONS FOR 2009.

1. Be healthier
-a. Take a walk (no matter how long or short) every day
-b. Make better eating choices
-c. Lose – permanently – six to ten pounds
2. Be a theatre geek

-a. See “Wicked” in San Francisco and compare/contrast to the Broadway production
-b. Audition for any show that, if given the option, I would truly want to perform
-c. Stop being so reserved and start being confident
3. Be more outgoing

-a. Make friends
-b. Make an impression
-c. Make connections (voila! Success in life)
4. Be a 'good' person (friend/family member/girlfriend)

-a. Make an effort to “do unto others” and all that jazz
-b. Remind the people in my life why they are so special to me
-c. Actually read my Bible

Optional and/or Not Required:
1. Spend time in New York City and do things I've been hankering to do
-a. Chow down at the Shake Shack
-b. Eat a cupcake from Magnolia (if I don't get to NYC, try my own hand at making some of their
Vanilla Cupcakes)
-c. See a show (because I've never been and not seen one, and you're not truly in NYC until you see a show)
2. Go to Los Angeles
-a. Preferably take Ethan with me
-b. Preferably see Michelle
-c. Preferably we Three Musketeers go to Disneyland together
3. Start thinking about the future
-a. Continue creating my "Hope Chest" (you know Momma wants you out of the house when she is buying you things like a flatware set and a can opener!)
-b. Balance school and fun times
-c. Start saving money
4. I may add to this if I see fit

I normally don't do things like this, buuut I figured if I posted this publicly, I'd be more likely to actually follow through.

Happy New Year!

Sad day/happy day.

SAD because... Ethan woke up feeling sick. Therefore our romantic lunch/ice skating trip will not occur. Or at least not the lunch portion. Hopefully he'll feel better in time for ice skating this evening and Hobees for dinner... I want him to feel better NOW!
HAPPY because... Ethan and I will be embarking on a SNOW TRIP tomorrow! My dad and my brother and his girlfriend are going up today; we'll be going up with my grandma tomorrow. I haven't enjoyed a white winter in a couple years (although we froze our toes off in New York this time last year, there was no snowfall), so I'm pretty excited about it - sledding, hot chocolate, skiing, etc etc etc. hurray!
RANDOM:Spunky the Spice Monkey from E to me on Christmas. He's filled with yummy spices that can be heated for warmth/comfort/delicious scents. So cute.

Dear Girlfriend:

I would like to thank YOU for being my best pal. You are my best friend and my girlfriend, and I love being with you. I'm sorry, but I don't understand the "putting up" or "moody meaniecopter" (LOL) parts. I have never ever felt like I've had to "put up" with you. Being really happy, laughing ridiculously, and feeling super lucky is all I have had to put up with. Trust me, you do not have to feel bad about those things. Actually, I thank you for them! Also, you are definitely not a moody meaniecopter. (again, LOL! xD)

Your video/song was AMAZING! I giggled like a little gooser throughout the entire thing. You really do have the most beautiful voice in the world. :] Thank you so so much! That really made me so happy.

And after long and careful consideration, I have decided to accept your date. ;D I would love to go to lunch at Hobees and ice skate! WEEE! (I love it when you call be big papa!...:])

Thank you for everything Grace. I adore you. :]

Love, Boyfriend.

Dear Boyfriend:

I just wanted to thank you for being my best friend and putting up with me when I am moody meaniecopter. In celebration of your ultimate greatness, I made you this:

Anyway, I've been thinking about it a lot, and there's something I've been wanting to ask you for a while... Will you go out with me? The truth is, I really like you a lot and I'd love to take you to lunch at Hobees and then maybe you could join me for some ice skating? Let me know!

Love, Girlfriend.

A very merry Christmas.

I love Christmas! I really do - apart from being woken up at 8am, but even that's tolerable. I had a great time hanging out with my family plus my grandma and auntie, opening presents around the tree, and staying cozy warm inside my house while the rain poured (only to clear up later). Anyway, three pairs of boots, a couple of cute sweaters, lots of kitchen goods and supplies, and countless other awesome knicknacks, I, as always, felt spoiled but thankful. Oh, in addition, my brother got the coolest thing ever. It's fun for all! We broke out my parents' copy of The Beatles' Abbey Road and went to town. Huzzah!

Luckily for me, the festitivites did not end there! Around 5 I went to Ethan's where we proceeded to feel all grown up as we lay our presents for one another around his tree. We exchanged. We laughed. We cried (sort of). We got cool stuff. Possibly my favorite gift from E: a little illustrated book entitled The Beginning which documents the commencement of our relationship. Cute and charming to say the least! Edit: Also, it should be noted that Ethan has a beautiful voice and made up a song especially for me. It made me cry. Tears of joy of course!

Too long; didn't read? - I'm so very thankful for my family, friends, and my awesome and thoughtful boyfriend! I'm such a lucky lady.

Below is a lil photographic representation of the very first Ethan and Grace Christmas. Discluded from the photo is the official "Ethan and Grace's First Christmas" bear - a gift from E to me. Additionally missing are our faces, which will not be shown because both of us agreed that, while the other looked nice, it wasn't one of our prettier days. Hehe.

Hope you're all having lovely holidays! Jury's still out on our New Year's Eve plans (because we haven't talked about it, and because I didn't even think of it til now), but we do know one thing: we'll be at the Streetlight Manifesto/Reel Big Fish show on the 2nd!

Twas the night before Christmas...

Today, Ethan and I went to Jamba Juice and then headed to my place to take a couple of photos and read together. We met up only briefly because we've both been working so hard on Christmas presents! Today I attempted to make him something that didn't turn out as well as I'd hope. I cannot disclose details, as the recipient may read this before we open our presents for one another tomorrow. Speaking of which - I'm so excited for my friends and family to open gifts tomorrow! Don't get me wrong, I like receiving presents - but there's something about giving gifts and making people happy that makes meee happy. Funny how that works.

Anyway, Christmas is almost here and I'm shocked at how quickly the holiday has arrived. I'm so excited for tomorrow; you don't even know! hurrah!

From my backyard this afternoon:
Merry Christmas!

Grace.

Hi everyone! I'm a freshman at SCU, where I am a declared Communication major. I plan to pursue a second major in Theatre, which I love! I currently live at home with my parents, brother, and the cutest dog in the world. I have a wonderful best friend-boyfriend hybrid named Ethan, with whom I look forward to blogging here (thanks, E), and a lot of super awesome friends whom I adore as well. I really like acting, singing, fashion/clothes, photography, babies, and foooood (my baked goods have quite a reputation)! I love God and I am working hard to honor Him through my life. I'm thankful for my life and all the blessings in it; I look forward to sharing them with anyone who reads this blog. If anyone reads this blog. :]

I'm Ethan.

Hey guys! My name is Ethan. I am a freshman at Santa Clara University, where I am studying to be a Computer Engineer.

Anyways, here's a list of things I like:
- God
- Food (especially butter)
- Video games
- Running
- Laughing
- Singing
- Dogs
- My family
- Grace

I'm basically just living my life, and loving it. I'll be posting from time to time. I'll try to do it often, because I know it will mean a lot to Grace.

Fun fact: I used to act and dress like a little boy, but I became a man when I started dating my girlfriend. Actually, I still act like a little boy sometimes.

Fancy meeting you here.

The first post on any blog always seems a bit awkward, so we'll just get the introductory stuff out of the way.

Ethan and Grace are best friends who met in high school and began dating in their senior year. They now attend university together. He lives in the dorms; she lives at home with her lovely family. He loves video games, running, and being a goof; she loves baking, fashion, and being a goof. Mutual interests include God, happiness, and each other. Clearly, they're well-suited for one another.

After much deliberation, Ethan and I, Grace, agreed to embark on a journey into the blogosphere together. I guess that the content of this blog will range from exciting to dull, depending on the excitement or dullness of the current goings-on of our respective lives or life together. I have my doubts about how often Ethan will be posting here, so you can expect to see a lot of entries posted by yours truly. Regardless of whatever happens, I'm pretty excited about the prospect of documenting our every move. Or something.

We are Ethan and Grace.

Welcome to our life!
